Chantel McGregor on The Blues Connection
Realising at an early age that if I picked up a guitar I got attention, especially from my dad whose guitar it was, it was inevitable that I’d get one of my own. So at the ripe old age of three, I got my first guitar, a half size acoustic.
At seven, I started lessons but soon noticed that not only did dad’s electric guitars have smaller necks, making them ideal for little hands, but they could also make a lot more noise. After more lessons and a lot more noise, aged eight, I became the youngest person in the country to pass a Rockschool grade. More lessons followed,and with them came the realisation that if you want people to listen, you need to sing!
So, aged 12, I started playing and singing at local jam sessions, and two years later, the head of A&R from a major label sat in our lounge and told me "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" His advice, “change styles because boys would be intimidated”.
Singing and playing on national television and radio soon followed.
Then came a change of direction, I wanted to become an English teacher, so I went away from live performance and concentrated on my studies. Having got the qualifications to enrol to do an English degree, I changed my mind, and went back to the music. Now qualified at Rockschool Grade Eight, and with the qualifications to do an English degree rather than a music degree, I enrolled at the world renowned Leeds College of Music to do a Btec in Popular Music, where I became the first student in the college’s history to achieve a 100% pass mark, with 18 distinctions. Progressing onto the degree course, I became the holder of the College’s prize for outstanding musicianship for 2006/7, on the way to achieving a First Class Honours Degree in Popular Music in July 2009 and at the same time the award for guitar.

Frank Cosentino on The Blues Connection
Guitar has been in Frank Cosentino’s life sine the age of five. Everything changed after seeing Jimi Hendrix live at his infamous 1968 Toronto Show! For Frank, it was the sound coming from this larger than life guitarist’s hands, that some would say was a religious awakening musically for Frank.

Gruhak on The Blues Connection
Gruhak are a Coratian based rock band rooted in the supreme musicianship of the Classic Rock era, Gruhak is a seriously talented, tight, live band and brilliantly manage to reproduce their punchy, distinctive live sound into their recordings. With influences ranging from early black blues, early rock 'n' roll, UK blues rock and American southern rock they also cover a wide range of classic tracks from the likes of Zeppelin and The Who.

Mitch Laddie on The Blues Connection
Mitch Laddie was born in the North East of England on 24th September 1990. Drawn to music from an early age, Mitch listened to Country greats with his late maternal Grandfather. Hypnotised by the sounds he began building his own record collection at the early age of 3 years old, moving from Country into Blues, Motown, Soul & R&B.

It had to be done as we have no choice but here goes: Welcome to the Home Page of Hard As A Rock where we aim to inform you about the chaos, mayhem and general nonsense that is the ever popular podcast lead by "The Talent" Paul Mackay (it's on his t-shirt) backed up and controlled by radio co-hosts Greig "The Animal" Campbell & Producer "The Tech" Mark.
It's not so much your average podcast playing some rock tunes - this is a full on radio broadcast combined videocast which is broadcast live and free using our sister site www.onairgigs.com. There is (thankfully) not another show like this out there. Bringing 2 hours of great music from bands gone by plus new & unsigned talent the happy heroes of rock bring you their version of "radio". Packed with features and promising a lot but often delivering little the HAAR Trio say what's on their minds and more often than not it's total nonsense - but it's well worth a laugh!
