My name is Brendan Dowd and I have been involved in promoting Blues music on radio and on the Internet for a few years now. When people ask me why do I like The Blues I tell them that for me it is the only type of music that I feel I can truly connect with, I guess it's in the blood.

There is more to Blues music than the classic "My baby's gone left me ", there are songs of pride and of deep love, songs full of history and devotion with lyrics that can take you on a emotional journey and move you to tears.

In my case I used Blues as a source of healing, in October 2001 I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident which has left me paralysed from the chest down and fully wheelchair dependant, I thought my life was at an end, but one day I put on my headphones and spent hours listening to my favourite Blues Harp tracks and I was reborn.

Through the songs and music of artists such as Howlin Wolf, James Harman, Sugar Ray and Junior Wells I was able to put things into perspective and once again start enjoying life.
